I would definitely talk more with your girlfriends parents before going to authorities. Could they have their land in some conservation program that you don't know about that would allow public access? If they don't care about it, you probably are not going to get anywhere legally. You will probably get better result from social media and public shaming of him.
We actually live with them so I know no conservation program and I'm the only one who hunts it. I'll talk to the FIL some more and see what he thinks I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
May be wrong but it looks like in the one pic there some sort of name on the back of jacket. May be some sort of company jacket but maybe its nothing. Know a lot of businesses around here hand out jackets and stuff to customers so if you could figure out what it said may lead to a id. Either way probably good idea to have another discussion and if its made clear that your FIL doesn't wanna do anything while it sucks might just let it go. Might avoid conflict between you and him if he doesn't wanna go after the guy which I'm sure would be more beneficial in the long run for the two of you.
We know it says "Glendorado shooting preserve" which is right down the road from us. I'm talking to the FIL now and he asked for his picture. He's going to talk to the neighbors and see if anyone knows who it is.
I gotcha, I might of missed that if mentioned earlier, just kinda noticed it in the pic but couldn't make it out. Well only other thing can think is good luck man, hopefully doesn't become a habit and don't start finding stuff missing. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
The property owner has to be the one to press the charges. There was a guy who hunted land adjacent to a WMA had written permission and he had habitual trespassers coming over from the wma. He wanted trespassing enforced but the property owner did not care nothing the DNR could or would do. I would take a crap in the blind and leave a note
I would be willing to bet he didn't even have a tag or didn't register the turkey because he went back out after he shot 1. Hopefully he bought another tag but already breaking 1 law, probably not the only.
If your father-in-law does not want to mess with it in the future, the cleanest and easiest method would be to draw up a small lease agreement. In order to prosecute someone for trespassing you must rent, lease or own the land.
I'll update the thread once I talk to him some more to let everyone know what (if anything) we are going to do.
Wow.... This guy is a genius. Let someone else buy property with their hard earned money, pay taxes on it, maintain it, and then just say "eff whoever owns this ground" and do as he pleases without dropping a dime or a bead of sweat. Gotta hand it to him, the blood sucking leach sure is clever.
landowner, farmers with neighbors in particular, sometimes don't get upset with neighbors sneaking on. I'm facing the same thing with a farm I was supposed to have to myself this year. She doesn't want to create friction, so she just told me to hunt another part of the farm.
If you call the GW in Texas about someone hunting on private property the first thing they ask is if your the owner. If you say no then they tell you that the land owner has to make the complaint and have a nice day. Im sure its different if you catch them hunting off the road but as far as on private land, the owner has to call unless you have written permission to enforce. I tend to find more GW that find excuses not to do their job rather than uphold the law.
Hope the guy doesn't catch a stay arrow:-( Had the same issue on private land I hunt until the owner started prosecuting. Now it's real quiet there. Good luck.
