This may sound callous, but that would make a great jacket. Does anyone know of any other genetic issues that would contribute negatively to the deer population (thus warranting their early demise).
According to According to the Field Manual of Wildlife Diseases in the Southeastern United States, "In addition to their white coloration, many have some of the following observable conditions: bowing of the nose (Roman nose), short legs, arching spine (scoliosis) and short lower jaws." (a quick google of it).
I've been contemplating if I saw it in season if I would take the shot... If I did shoot it, I would obviously get it mounted, but it sure is little, and others may get upset.
Well I'm surprised it made it. Would have been an easy noticeable fawn to kill. As far as diseases I do not know Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I life without pis- er..., upsetting others is a life un-lived. Git er dun! or, save the herd! Actually, the same study I quote above says the gene probably dies out pretty fast and the deer herd doesn't suffer for it.
1. Awesome pics! 2. I'm not positive, but I think shooting albino deer in illegal in MN. 3. Those deer weren't shot. Sticks, fences, trees all can disturb of remove hair. Especially this time of year when they're transitioning coats. Half of the deer walking around here these days have spots like that, and I know they weren't shot.
cool stuff for sure with the albino. Always fun to keep track of the deer roaming the property. First albino Illuminator night picture contest?
We can't shoot albino's here in TN. Not sure about anywhere else. Love the pics, hope you get a lot more of them.
I will not be shooting the albino given the chance. I am hunting/managing my girlfriends parents land and they do not want me to take it - No big deal to me, I just love getting pictures of such a unique animal!
I'd have second thoughts as well...I will be surprised if it lasts through the summer though. Does mn have wolves that far south?
No, people claim they see them but I have yet to see concrete evidence of a wolf in central MN and I think he is south of me.
