Last Tuesday I decided to head out in the AM and see what would as the wind was a little stiff (12-16) but out of the north which is perfect for my stand. About 30 minutes after sunrise, two little bucks came through but circled down wind of me. They kept coming as if I was not there. They piddled around for a bit and they just walked off. Another 30 minutes to by and a little spike who's antlers looked like little toothpicks walked in and started to eat. He starting looking down wind and I turns to see what he was looking at, and there he was all of 10 yards away! I went to draw my bow and I couldn't because of the tree behind me so I shifted to the right and was able to get a clean shot. He dashed off and I saw my arrow on the ground with bright red blood. I still waited about 15 minutes or so before getting down. Once I retrieved the arrow I knew he was down somewhere close by as this was really bright red. I quickly found him piled up about 40 yes from where he was shot. Very glad to get a buck after having shot many does the last 4 years.
