Well I got my first buck with a bow today! what a rush. Went out yesterday to see the bucks running crazy and responding to rattling great.

My stand is situated on the edge of a river, on an island, where the deer are traveling from food to bedding areas. About an hour after light I spotted two bucks cruising across the river. I decided to do some rattling to see if I could spark any interest. About two minutes later I catch movementg coming in fast at about 80 yards. I grabbed my bow just in time to see a new buck running right at me.

He comes in on a string and turns broadside at 30 yards, but quickly turns right at me again, no shot. Now the buck is right under me! he stood under my tree for 5 minutes sniffing where my first step was. After trying to calm myself the buck buck finally moves.

He turns and walks away then turns broadside at 5 yards. I pick my spot and cut loose. The buck does a picture perfect kick and takes off. He made it about 50 yards and tipped over. I had to sit in the stand for 15 minutes after cause I was shaking too bad to climb down! lol.

    Enough rambling, here's the pictures

Thanks guys! the buck went down about 500 yards from where the picture was taken. I had to float him across the river, which explains the waders still on. The river is only about waist deep where I cross.

The face paint up-ed the odds no doubt, it's was the cause of the outcome of the hunt lol

Congrats on your first bow buck!!

I once had to float a buck out of a slough. I didn't have any wader though and I was breaking a thin layer of ice on the way out and back. Tried taking a different route back out that was a bit shallower. Damn that was cold and the water was up to my chin in places !! LOL

    Congrats again !!
