Well everyone tonight was the night. I slept in this morning to hang out with my three favorite ladies, my wife and two daughters. I originally planned on going hunting but decided to stay home and hang out for a bit as I had been going at it pretty hard since October 1st. I hadn't spent too many days with them and really missed hanging out with them. We woke up and played and had some breakfast, just really enjoyed some family time. At 11:30am I headed for the woods to begin my hunt. I wanted to get setup in a pinch point where two ravines came together and also three big trails. I picked out a good tree and climbed to about sixteen feet as that is all the higher the tree would let me go. I had a good back drop and with the deer coming from below me I figured I was in a great position. I was fully setup at one oclock and ready to go. It was really slow with no movement except for the pesky squirrels stirring about. I sat for about three hours, grunting and hitting the can call every fourty minutes or so with no results. At about 4:05pm I heard some foot steps in the distance and so I hit the can call again. I heard the deer start moving my way and picked him up in my binos. He wasn't a monster but to me was a deer I wanted to take. I patiently waited ten minutes for the buck to make his way to me. He came on a string and stopped at 25 yards to browse and lick a branch. I settled my pin on him and let my Strother Wrath fling the arrow. I hit him a little high due to the angle but it punched threw both lungs as it came out perfectly on the other side. I also clipped the spine and he dropped in his tracks. I decided to put another arrow in him because I wasn't sure at that point how good the first shot was. That helped him expire quickly and I had my first ever buck with a bow. He is not the biggest Kansas buck roaming around but he is a great deer to me. I put in the work and did the scouting and it paid off.
Ah that first one! Congratulations brother!!!!! (Please tell me you were a Denver fan well before Manning went there!?)
congrats. still a trophy! and go Broncos!! (I've been a fan since the Elway days. With em for the long haul!)
Being a Hoosier I have gotten so sick of all the Colt...er...now Broncos fans. Hence the question I asked
