I took this guy yesterday morning around 7:30. Followed a trail, in to about 10 yards, didn't get a clear shot until he presented him self broad side at 25. Thought he was a little bigger when I shot him, kinda second guessing myself for shooting him, but what can you do it's my first buck with a bow, and only my 3rd deer i have shot with a bow, and being a college student, I can only really hunt weekends being 2 hrs away from my stand so I guess i didn't do too bad, another 2 years he would have been a giant. bow 9 pt.jpg n 9-point

First buck with a bow and your second guessing yourself  Most would be very ecstatic with a buck of that size to be there first buck.

Second guessing yourself on an 8 point?

My first bow buck was a small 6, and I couldn't stop smiling for days.

Congrats. I know what it is like to have to drive hours each way to hunt. It takes a lot more effort and determination.

Hey thanks guys!, yeah i agree its all good, i won't have to worry about grocceries for sometime now so thats all good, I scored him like an 8, even tho he had a little 3 inch sticker off his G3 i didn't count, and he still grossed 126 7/8, and netted like 123. So I'm happy with it considering the amount of small bucks I passed up last year this one is defitnitley justifiable, Happy I got my first good one under my belt and it will be the first of many more to come.

Thanks, I shot him at 7:25 am, I had a couple cotton balls hanging from trees with some clothes pins that had some buck urine on them, and I had them leading to a scrape in front of my stand. It was real windy yesterday so i couldn't hear much and he just kinda popped up right in front of me at 10 yards, and didn't give me much of a shot, but he followed that scent i had in perfectly on a string, and I just waited til he gave me a good broad side shot at 25 yards and I took it.
