I say allow any buck killed because we can have multiple bucks here in MO. The odds for me aren't good, but it can happen. The property I bow hunt on doesn't have many big bucks and the property I rifle hunt( I use my bow sometimes during rifle season) on has some nice ones. I may kill a buck on public land, then during rifle i may kill a bigger one. So I'm for the multi buck.

I dont know folks, the greedy bastard in me says yeah, yeah, your hunting 3 good states John your going to get to score the biggest if your lucky enough to score in more than one state this season.
But then there is the other John that says, If the first one was acceptable or big enough to drop a string on, why should you be able to enter another one when some don't have that option.
Everyone has the same choice on the first buck, shooter or non shooter, After the first one it becomes more of a state regulation, or those of us that are lucky enough to have the good fortune to hunt more than one state thing.

My vote goes for first buck. In all fairness, I don't get a mulligan or an "insurance buck". . . so why should any one else?

True, but....what if those same 4 guys from a 1 buck state all killed bucks that were 1 lousy inch bigger, giving them a score of 502"? They still win. We can "what if" this scenario to death.

Don.. you come up with what if scenario's to see whats fair for everyone in the contest.

It's not fair for some members to use 1 of 2 bucks while others use only 1.

I'm sorry... but its not. Who the haitis would want to be in a contest where its not fair to all participants.

Thats like saying some guys get 1 at bat.. and that hit counts. Other guys get 2 at bats.. and they can include whichever at bat they want.

And if I hunt Wisc. I get 3 tags... which means 3 at bats.

C'mon dudes.. this ain't semantics. It's what fair for all participants not just what's better for "you".

Next time I play Monopoly with my wife I'll tell her I get 2 rolls of the dice and she gets 1. We'll see who wins.

But it doesn't matter anyway.. since the me's have it. So it will probably be a any buck deal. Sorry for the intent to bring equality to the table.

    Carry on gents.

I have to agree. We need a level playing field. Last year I killed 2 bucks and was fortunate that the first was the better of the 2. That may not happen this year but I think the 1st should be the one counted. If we are going to go by a members best buck then perhaps if I get a booner mule deer when I go Terlingua this year it should be counted in straight up inches the same as a whitetail. No score adjustment. Too bad for you guys that don't have a chance at a mulie. I'm just lucky enough to live in a mule deer state. Its the same train of thought.

Duke, I see your point. Just because I have multiple tags certainly doesn't mean I'm gonna actually fill them, but you're right. And, based on this discussion, I'm gonna pull my previous, and say we go with the first buck. I've never looked at it that way, thanks.

It really doesn't matter, there isn't a prize. If it's just a "fun" contest let the biggest buck win. You could never make it really fair anyway. Some live and hunt in areas where there are no big bucks, to them the first buck rule doesn't matter either. Biggest buck! Let's not overthink this. Just my $.02

    Contest favors no one

There are no absolutes in hunting(Matt PA), Hell I'll take you and 8 other guys hunting in NC. Anyone can kill a deer in that over populated state:alien: Just like in MI:cool:

Ya.. Don.. I hunt with at least 2 tage every year. But I wanna be somewhat closer to fairness for everyone.

Whichever is decided is okay with me. If I get two.. I'm only using the first. So what of it.. really.

I like the first deer counts method. I hunt Wi and Ill, 2 tags. Why score shop? It's all in fun anyway.

I'll be out voted but it's not at all fair to shoot X amount of deer and choosing which one you enter.

Hypothetically, a 4 man team from PA can't compete with 4 guys from states with multiple buck tags, especially those that shoot one to get a buck and then hunt for a bigger one. The 4 from a single tag state do not have that luxury.

Depending on how the teams fall, there can be a considerable advantage to a team before the seasons even start!

And I typed that and then went back and read the posts, lol the point was already made. But I'm just one vote.
