What do you all think, honestly? He has a pretty decent body on him. At the end of last season I had really big 8 pointer, however you could tell he was still very young, he was small framed and his G2s weren't grown yet, they were just little numbs. Here's a pic of both. I'd love to let him grow another year, but if he's of decent size, I may go ahead. There is a large farm (company) next door that let their employees hunt now and they will shoot anything that moves, needless to say I was upset when they took a little 6 pointer.
Sorry one of the pics is sideways, another blackberry fail. However, if you look at the muzzle, that is the same buck. OH YEAH Oh, and as for naming, according to my 3 year old twins, his name is officially "butterscotch"
Im going to have to say those are two different deer, the left ear is missing a chunk in the velvet pic and the right brow is going to be split on the deer this year as well.... My personal opinion is two different bucks
Wow Really nice deer. With those neighbors I'd have to take him.. As a new hunter letting antlers like that walk would seem impossible. Good luck
Rutin, you really think so? Taking the obvious bias out, I'd still be inclined to thunk it is. The reasoning being the pic from last year didn't have brow tines at all. So he'll be bigger as expected this year. Also, his muzzle is black which is very strange. I've never seen another deer around here like that. However, I'm going to have to do more comparison and watching. That ear part is different. Bblefty, yeah I can't promise I would let him walk this year, he looks nice. It used to be there was 0 pressure and not really any concern except him staying in my area. Thanks for the opinions guys.
Thanks guys. I got a call last night from my brother freaking out because a huge 8 pointer was running out of the woods. He's not really an outdoors / hunting guy so I took it with a grain of salt, but didn't totally dismiss the idea. Well I stopped by and checked the cams. I have one on cam that makes this guy look like an infant. I will post pics when I get home, I forgot my jump drive when I left for work this morning. Too bad it isn't Octoboer and these aren't grown.
