So this is my first deer and got em with a bow! I'm 34 and just started hunting this season. Was hunting parents land which is around 30 acres. Me and my stepfather had 3 tree stands which we've been hunting from since season opened in NY. We haven't seen much until this Thrusday when we noticed rubs and scrapes near our stands. Right before dark on Thursday I notice a nice buck chasing a doe around the field(all the way on the other side from where I was). It was good to see some deer finally. Anyway, got up early Friday and went to one of the new stands we put up but when I got to the top of it I decided it was a bit to high for me(freaked out alittle by heights) so I moved to our other stand which I didn't feel that much more comfortable in but manned up and stayed.

I was just telling myself that I hope I didn't make to much noise and scare everyhting out of the area when I noticed movement to my left. I look over and a NICE 8 pt buck is coming towards me about 25-30 yards away. He was sniffin the air pretty good and I thought for sure I was busted. I grabbed my bow when he went behind a tree and I drew back. I must admit I held it together pretty good. I was at full draw and was about to release when I noticed a small branch so I waited until a better shot came about. He made a right turn and was about 15 yards away when I grunted to stop him. He stopped perfectly broadside and I let the arrow fly. It was a perfect hit, arrow went right thru him. He ran about 50 yards and died on the spot. It was a double lung shot. I could see him from my stand but backed out to make sure he was dead. Came back an hour later and there he lay.

It was the most awesome experience. I felt like everything happened perfectly. Shot him with Bowtech Destroyer 350. Here ar ethe pictures. I try to post a couple more later. Awesome!!!!!!!

Great shot and congratulations. What broadhead are you using to do all that damage?

Grim Reaper. My arrow had blood all over it but I didn't see much of a blood trail. When I got to the deer 50 yards away(if that) there was blood everywhere.

Yep, first ever. Just picked up a bow this year. When I think back on the whole 3 minutes that it took place it really couldn't have gone any better. I know I was alittle lucky with the deer coming down to me but I tryed to stay as calm as possible and tryed to remember everything that I was supposed to do and it really paid off. When I initially drew back and I didn't have a shot I actually thought about letting down but I kept it back and the deer came into a perfect spot. I stopped the deer dead in his tracks and took the shot. Now that it's over I've replayed it in my mind a 100 times. When it happened I was on automatic pilot. It was probably one of the most awesome 5 minutes ever.
