Well, the day started with me working at the archery shop and it was pretty quiet in there. A buddy of mine showed up and suggested we go bowfishing. Me being the follower I am, I decided he had a mighty good idea. So, off we headed to the tressel bridge. We immediately saw fish working the surface, and it didn't take us long to be launching arrows. I missed a couple, but then landed my first ever fish shot w/ archery gear, and I'm forever hooked! This is just plain ole fun!! Here's a pic of my first, a decent sized Asian. Sorry, I just snapped it w/ my phone.

Here's my buddy Lenny with big fish of the day. Another Asian (we each shot 6) that weighed close to 7 pounds I would say. Pretty good fish, but man......those Asian carp get nothing but uglier the bigger they get!

It sure is addicting! Six on your first day isn't too shabby. Did you use a recurve or compound?

Now wait till you stick a 40+ lber which is STILL small in the scheme of asian carp.

    Smelly fish too aren't they?

Bighead hunting at night is about as much fun as one can have with clothes on, that is fact.

Guess I should've added CONGRATS on the first! It can get pretty addicting if you aren't careful.

Compound, and an old one. But it's a smooth drawing bow and I don't give a darn if it gets wet or muddy, bloody, whatever.

Funny you mention the stench......That's one of the first things I said......"Lenny, these (insert an F-bomb here) stink!" Slimy, smelly ugly damn things that just need to die! Man is that ever fun though.

I can't imagine sticking a 40 lber. Hell, the biggest I've gotten has maybe gone a little over 10 lbs. We just don't see any BIG ones in the lake where we fish. At least not during the day anyway.

Mobow: Yeah, that bow is going to get wet/slimy/stinky...you name it. :D

Yeah, they seem like they pull pretty hard. I'm thinking rod and reel would be fun too!

I have a Zebco 808 on my rig. I tried the AMS retriever but the bottle that held the line kept falling off. Talk about being pissed. I'd be walking along the bank and then notice green line 20 yards behind me tangled in brush.

I'm happy with the 808 for now. My buddy and I have come along way. We started with the hand reels. We knew we needed an upgrade...after....the FIRST fish! Have fun with it man!

We hammered a few more today (probably a dozen or so) but the conditions weren't as good. Even tough it didn't rain at all, the water clouded up quite a bit and it was overcast......We just couldn't see the fish nearly as well. I had serious issues w/ shooting well to the right today too.....SHEESH! It was ugly. LOL
