Long story short, my buddy made his first bow kill this weekend. It was a doe at 30 yards and he made kind of a bad shot. "Kind of" is putting it lightly, but she's in the ice chest and didn't go far at all. He hit her low in the throat. Talk about a confusing blood trail! After it was all said and done she only ran about 75 yards and gave up the ghost. Seeing his reaction when we found her was awesome. Dude was on cloud nine. If my brother would have gotten his first this weekend as well it would have been a perfect weekend, but unfortunately he still carries that monkey. I had a first as well. Shot a doe at 15 yds. Lost sight of my arrow so I didn't see exactly where it went. Shot sounded good with no ricochet heard. Deer ran off with no crash and no sound of urgency. In the end I found no arrow, no blood and no deer. I have no idea what happened but the buddies thought the arrow could have deflected into "God Knows Where." I aint buying that at that distance in that much brush. I keep telling myself I missed clean to try to make myself feel better, but I don't really think I did. Very strange. Here's a pic of "Chief Shoot'em Creepin Doe". Not real sure what he was doing with that leg, but he's a little slung off so there's no telling. Think maybe he's covering a huge Rage cut hole in her neck.
Congrats to your buddy on his first. Doesn't matter how it got there, but it's on the ground, so good for him.
Congrats to your buddy. That was my first thought when I read the story and looked at the pic. Using that leg to cover the impact hole! And welcome to the site!
