Ok so yesterday was my fifth sit this year. And this year is my first year hunting period, so I don't have many under my belt and this was my first morning sit. Anyway, I got up yesterday morning at 4:30, made coffee, took a shower, loaded up the truck and headed to the nature preserve near my house that I usually hunt. I get all setup and sitting in the stand by about 6:40ish, sunlight is just starting to peak over the trees. I sit for awhile, hear some turkeys, ducks and owls, but no deer. It finally comes to be about 9:30 and I hear some heavy footsteps that definitely aren't squirrels(cause one thing I have gotten good at recognizing while sitting in the stand is squirrel footsteps), it ends up being a little Y-buck, maybe 30 yards from me that I couldn't see until he was crossing the stream behind me, I wouldn't have wanted to shoot him anyway. Then maybe 25-30 minutes later I hear more heavy footsteps, it's a doe, then a fawn w/o spots, and then a decent Y-buck. I wanted to let the doe go cause she had a fawn with her, but I haven't shot anything yet and I need meat. She's coming right in front of my stand, it had to be close to 10 yards, right broadside. While trying to grab my bow without looking away from the doe, I knocked the arrow off my rest right into my riser, she and the buck looked right at me, I kept completely still, they put their heads back down. She kept walking turned completely away from me, walked out to 25 yards or so and turned back to a quartering away shot. I was shaking so bad cause this is my one chance to make up for the last 4 sits that were fruitless. My adrenalines flowing, I could barely draw my bow back, I got it drawn and anchored, I made her stop, released my arrow. I heard it hit wood and start to twang, she took off started to trip and fall around cause there was thick brush she ran right into. I was almost positive that I missed her. All 3 deer took of and I didn't see them again. I got down and went to look for my arrow, I found it at my chest height, burying half the Muzzy MX-3 into a tree. I work it around and get it loose from the tree, dry as a bone, no blood, I knew I missed. Lost the tip in the tree and broke the ferrule making it unusable. I wasn't disappointed that I missed, I was ecstatic that I even got the chance to be within a few yards of 3 beautiful creatures and finally got just chance to take one home with me. WHAT A RUSH! I don't know if I've ever felt anything like that before, but now I'm hooked. I can't wait to be able to sit for another morning, unfortunately I don't think that will be until next saturday, and fall turkey starts next saturday. That's my story, I hope you enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed living it. Thanks.

Tanks for your story! Its fun, isn't it? I've been hunting for 40 years, and I still get pumped watching deer. The more you hunt, the more you will learn to stay relaxed and under control. Its a privilage to be able to hunt!:deer:
