Today i did it! I was in my recently moved stand, i moved it about 20 yards closer to a main trail, when i spotted movement behind me. Two doe came down from my right to about 7 yards. I was a statue, barley looking with my eyes turning out of my head to see them. They looked at me and slowly turned away and took big, slow steps out. I don't have a rangefinder and never saw the trail they came from so i had to estimate the shot. It ended up being about 27 yards. I shot high and hit the neck and the arrow came out the throat. Incredibly lucky,i know, she expired quickly (thank God). It was a tough shot, since I had to face the tree and judge the distance by eye. But I'm happy i got on the board this year! (My first year). Overall, disappointed with my shot, thankful I was able to harvest a good doe. Sorry about the bad picture, I hunt solo haha.
Congrats Bad shots happen, sounds like it may have been too steep of an angle quartering away? Guessing you severed the spine in the neck since she dropped on the spot. Practice and patience is the only way to correct it.
Good job bud.. I spined the first deer I killed with a bow.. I miss-judged yardage using a recurve.. bad shots happen, we can only try to do our best in the future. Congrats on your first bow kill buddy!
Congrats! I recently learned on this forum to bend at the waist when shooting from a stand. Not sure if you know that or not but thought i'd pass it on.
Congratulations man! Bowhuntings a game that is impossible to perfect that's what keeps us out there. Bad shots happen to the best of us! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk
Congratulations! Bad shots happen to everyone, just be thankful you got your first bow kill and you didn't wound an animal! Good luck, hope you can arrow a buck!
