Hey guys Ill start with the meat of the story, pics. Sorry no eye candy, but this deer means a lot to me as I've been wanting a deer like never before. My First Bow Buck Coming home from college for the weekend, I had 3 hunts planned. Friday evening, Saturday morning and evening, and getting home after dark foiled that first hunt. I made last minute wal-mart runs and shook in anticipation for the next day. Of course my 4:00 am alarm never worked to wake me. 7:30 I wake up and I’m MAD that my alarm didn’t work. I’m only going to get to hunt once or twice a year and then my morning is busted. Cursing myself as the worlds WORST bowhunter, I flew with my climber, bow, and other junk towards the public land I’ve never hunted. Since it was the first time I’d used this climber it wasn’t until 10 o clock before I was up in the tree for good. I had to go down once after dropping my release. Then my cold came back. I promise you I sneezed once every 3 minutes and I figured the hunting was really done, I could only bet on my evening hunt to redeem it. 10:50 a.m. and this buck comes from behind me which is at eye-level elevation. I don’t understand how he couldn’t pick out the sneezing, texting bowhunter. Anyways, this buck is close (30 yards) and I’m hunting over a thick, thick, thick wooded bottom. I had a clear shot but he would have seem me draw. He circled around and jumped the creek bottom and miraculously headed towards the trail. He I drew on him as his head was down but then he stepped behind a very large tree 2 feet in front of me. He was about 20 yards now. I held for at least a minute and a half and I’m so glad my poundage will not rise over 60 pounds because this was going to kill me. Like people say: At full draw, it feels like an eternity. I’ll be completely honest I was shaking like I have never shaken before. Anyways he finally stepped out from behind the tree and I squeezed my release. The arrow hit a little far back but seemed promising. I saw him run down the ravine and then back up the hill he came from. For an hour I just called friends, family and praised God. 3 hours later after lunch I came back found him 150 yards from the shot. The shot had been almost perfect. It was cow horn spike but I have never been happier in my entire life. I’ve got some picture for the contest.
GOOD work bblefty! Man you SHOULD be proud. I felt like that myself when I shot my first deer with a bow.
Atta' Boy... congratulations on your first deer kill. You'll remember that moment in time for the rest of your life!
