Finally got to drop the string on a whitetail again for the first time since October 2011. I added up and this was my 11th sit since then. To say I've been crunched for time during the fall is a vast understatement. Pretty excited because its my first Alabama deer as well. Got til Sunday to get some more sits in and the rut is reaching full swing here so hopefully ill get a crack at a southern buck yet.
congrats! i hunt over in marion and winston countys and we are really starting to see things heating up!
Great... the Alabama pack is nocking them out... cep for me... I am re-tuning after missing and I have in-laws for the weekend.
Congrats. Great scenery from your stand, really beautiful country. What sight are you using? I've never seen it Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Thanks guys! Weather has thawed out some since that cold front moved through Monday. Lows in the 40s highs in the mid 50s. Been raining since I got here yesterday around lunch though with no signs of slowing up. Sat a big green field yesterday when I killed the doe. Today I'm back in a transition area from 8 year old pines to 30 year old pines. My buddy has seen two 140 bucks and passed a 115ish 8 from this area last weekend. If the 8 walks by today it won't find itself near as lucky!
Congrats. Those pics brought back memories. I lived in Alabama in the early 90's. Much different than Pa woods.
Well sat as long as I could stand it this morning. Was underdressed to begin with so when the rain really started to pick up I finally threw in the towel. Had 5 deer in range this morning. One was a small 4 point that had already shed one of his antlers. When a doe came in he went into a grunting frenzy and dogged her around my stand for a good 5 minutes before he chased her off into thicker small pines. Rut is definitely picking up here. 3 more does meandered through but nothing followed. Will be back in that stand early this afternoon hoping to catch a buck coming down the trail scent checking for does.
Nice Job...we don't get many success photos this time of year - I like seeing others out getting it done still...Good luck on the bucks!
