This morning i shot my first archery buck. now where to begin....

This was only the second time i had hunted this piece of land. I scouted it well this summer, but my trail cams only showed a bunch of does and fawns.

I got in the stand well before first light. I didn't see anything until about 8am, when i happened to catch movement across the field. Two Small bucks, a spike and a 4 pt where running from my left to right. I grunted to get a look at them, and they both stopped for a second and then went into the tree line. I waited about 30 minutes and tried a rattling sequence. the second i stopped i looked to my right and see a 3 pt sneaking out of the woods. I watch him for a while, then he goes back to where he came from. through the thick trees i make out another buck, looked bigger. i tried to grunt but he walked away from me. So i sit back and just watch, then i catch another deer moving out of the woods. it was a six pt, i watch in the bino's and he stops and makes a scrape, he continues on his way, away from me. he gets behind a falling tree and i grunt at him. he stops and looks in my direction. as he steps out, he starts to come my way. at this point he's behind a bunch of dead apple trees. i can hear him make 2 more scrapes, i catch his movement through the trees. he's moving away from me. I make a loud mean grunt.... he makes a B-line to me. at this point i grab my range finder and check the 2 spots he could come from. grab my bow, and watch him come through the trees. he comes straight infront of me, 28 yards. as he steps out, stops, i set my pin on him, and let it fly. I see the arrow fly and hit the sweat spot. i watch him run off and he gets about 50-60 yards and i see him stumbling. "go down, go down" i say, he goes to my left a bit and hear him crash. he's down. i call my father-in-law (my hunting buddy) and tell him the news, as this morning we were hunting different spots. next i call my dad, and ask him if he could come help me transport him, as i didn't have my rack. Double lung shot, i don't think i could placed the shot any better.

And here is the fruit of my labor.

    I have not scored him
