I got my first 3D in for the year.... My bow arm was in pretty good shape a month ago from the spot league, but I lost much of it since I have shot very, very little since dropping out of the league. I shot good on the first 15 for my first shoot, I shot 3 points up at 153 with 7 11's, 6 10's and 2 8's. Back half I struggled with my float from bow arm fatigue... It really opened up on me. I shot 5 down at 145. 1 11, 11 10's and 3 8's. 298 8X (11's). My buddies shot a 284 and a 280... I don't recall their X counts though. How has your 3D been going?
Good shooting Buckeye! I shot my first outdoor of the year last weekend. Most of our local events don't start regularly for another 2-3 weeks though. I shot open, which locally is 50 yards max. It wasn't a long course, most everything was 32-40 yards. I think there were 2 targets over 40 yards, and maybe 3 under 30. The course was still tough though, LOTS of the 32-40 yard targets, many were turkeys and rock critters.........I'm not exaggerating when I say there were easily 10+ turkeys/rock critters at 30-40 yards, and many on on tough up/downhill angles. With 30 targets, I ended up shooting a 288-7x if counting center 11's. Not bad considering I was blowing the dust off my outdoor game. There were 2 targets I hit dead center 10 ring on too that didn't have an X, so I didn't count them. Overall I hit one 5, and seven 8's. The 5 was a perfect shot on a 36 yard McKenzie fox that I picked 34 yards on. I was just barely low out of the 8 ring, so you can't really get upset about that (I would have had it with an x-cutter or anything larger than a pro 22 ). Overall, I dropped 7 points due to bad numbers, 4 points due to less than perfect shot execution, 2 points due to chasing my peep with the loop (new loop the day before), and the others were just getting used to less than perfect footing outdoors again, and not cutting proper yardage for hard up/downhill angles. I need to print out a cut sheet from OnTarget2 for my current setup for these angles. I cut too much yardage on a 37 yard strutting turkey that was waaaay downhill of the stake, and just barely caught the 8 ring a six o'clock. Don't know where I placed, didn't bother to turn my card in. Wasn't too worried about it. I was more focused on the 4 new 3D shooters in our group that I had invited after meeting through a buddy at work. Dan and I shot with them for their first time, and I think we got all 4 of them hooked.
Nice shooting buckeye. OUtdoor is in full swing for me here. I've attended two ASA's, in Open A, finished 18th in the first (blowup) then I finished 4th in the last one. I think I'm currently third in shooter of the year, which doesn't really mean much at this point, because I'm not going to be able to go to Texas this week I don't think, I just can't afford it. 17yr old salary isn't easy to travel on . Shooter of the year doesn't really matter all that much to me. I'm more worried with "winning out" and going to semi pro. I'm over half way there already, through 2 shoots. I only need $289 more dollars. Then things get a little more serious. As far as locally, I honestly haven't shot all that well so far. I have quiet a few up scores, no wins, but a couple top threes. I'm in a COMMANDING lead in the indoor 3d league I'm in. As far as my setup goes, I'm still playing with a few things, I'm not completely happy. I'm still playing with holding weight. I went from 19lbs, to 17.5 the last week or so. My pin has steadied, my groups have improved slightly, but I'm getting more fliers on 3d's. I'm not as down the middle as usual. I'm going to increase my holding weight tomorrow back to where it was. I'm actaully wanting to put hybrids on my bow, but thats still in the works. I switched arrows this year too, going from Fatboys, to Pro 22's, the Pro 22's are great, I love them. I'm trashing pins and nocks like they are going out of style though :d Overall, things are going pretty good on this end, I'm scratching my head a little but that's nothing out of the ordinary.
