Hard to say. Some of the fans might be the same that were burning Cutlers jersey following the loss. They might just blame the dealership for not doing a background check on an employee who has a Grandmother who likes the Packers.

What does getting fired for doing something your boss told you not to do.....or he would fire you......really have to do with the Packers/bears?

If you let emotion into the argument.....sure.

Brass tacks.....he disobeyed his boss's demands....and was fired for it. Like I said, if it didn't involve a sports team (emotion), we'd never have heard of this.

Let me put it another way.....

Was he fired for being a Packers fan? No. He was fired for insubordination. He could have taken off the tie and still remained a Packers fan......and an employee.

If he'd taken off the tie and still been fired.....I'd be with ya.

He wore the tie before, this wasn't the first time! Kinda ironic, well not really for a Bears fan....lol! Maybe the boss was a transplant from Philly! LOL!

I had missed that but heard he did sell 13 or 14 cars in that time frame.

The fact of the matter is he is/was in retail sales where the customers is king. They determine if you are going to make a sale.Or better yet,if the business is going to make a sale.

Their customer base is Bears fans. They just lost to the Packers and customers are not happy about it and it could affect sales. It is a no brainer.

Even if the boss took it personal, the facts are the facts. He told him to take it off,he refused and got fired for insubordination, not for wearing the tie.He was given a chance to remove it.

Could the boss have dealt with it better, probably. He could have very easily called him to the back and explained it could/might hurt sales and he needs to remove it.

Dang, you would think with that kind of longevity there he would have gotten more consideration and been fired after being told to take the tie off ten times in 30 minutes instead of just five in 30 minutes.

    LOL...

Now where I work you have to go through an act of Congress to fire someone. I've had people absolutely refuse to follow my orders without good cause before in my place of work. And I am talking in a jail setting where orders must be followed. I wrote them up to be terminated yet they are still working in our facility. Our county is "progressive".

From what I hear the dude deserved to be fired.

And if nothing less - the FREE pub it's generated has been a brilliant managerial move.

Looks like everyone makes out in this one and Stone is a one man economy booting machine. The new dealer will surely get people coming to buy a car from him and that babies at Webb Chevrolet might sell a few to some Bears fans.
