Congratulations Matt. Holding just a HS diploma can someone explain the difference between a Master and a batchlor's and any others I missed out on.

The amount of BS you have to wade through :tu:

All kidding aside, most bachelors degree's require at least 120 credit hours of course work and a capstone class during the last semester or 2 semesters. A master's degree requires an additional 30 credit hours (some more) and can involve thesis research project whose results are defended in front of a committee of professors. A Ph.D is usually 15-20 credit hours on top of a Master's degree and a dissertation project MUST be done (think of it as a thesis on steriods). Ph.D students generally have their research examined and scrutenized very closely and can take up to 5 or so years before it is completed. Not for the faint of heart

Congrats Matt. I would like to obtain my Masters, but until my Company (Lowe's) decides to foot the entire bill, I'll set on my two undergrad degrees that I paid for.

Congratulations MGH. I know it was a lot of work, but it will be worth it. Planning to go for the Ph.D. myself. (Biology, to do research in embryology.) I'm a junior for the coming year, but they've told me I can stay here for grad school if I keep up my present level of work. That will be great since we're well settled here.

Maybe you should bite the bullet and go on for the doctorate now while you're used to the routine. It will be worth it.

    :sheep:
Just please don't call it a "sheepskin"

Teacher. Although there were a few librarians in the program as well. Didn't run into any of the latter, though:p

Congrats! My wife has her masters in counseling, took her an extra 2 1/2yrs going full time. haha she makes $500/yr more than the teachers with bachelors degrees but it was essential for her position.

Thought that exact thought once before, too... thought maybe I should have obtained a degree in forestry so that I could identify all the trees and the corresponding mast crops they produce. :)
