Well as of last week, I wrapped up my Master's degree in Instructional Media. I did it online through Wilkes University, and it was relatively painless. It was 30 credits, and I managed to finish it in two years while teaching of course. I figured if my employer is going to pay for it, and it results in a pay raise, why not? It will be nice not having to juggle the job, class work, home remodeling and hunting this fall like I had to the last two seasons. Anyone else here have their Master's and/or Doctorate's?
I was enrolled and ready to go to Clemson in pursuit of my Master's (and hopefully Doctorate), but as they say, plans change...
I am finishing my Bachelors in Business and signed up right away to keep going toward my Masters. Congratulations to you! I hope it leads you to everything that you want in life.
Congrats... I have four classes left to get mine in Telecom Management and just can't make myself register for a class.
Congrats, that is awesome. I just finished my Bachelor's (BSM) with a minor in Public Policy. I will likely enroll in a Masters program early next year when my company tuition reimbursement kicks back in.
Congrats Matt. After all you have built, endured, and accomplished. This coming season will be your reward. You deserve it. Again friend, congrats.
I finished my Master's in Electrical Engineering last summer but I finished all of my classwork the year before, just had to finish up my thesis. It was paid for by my company (Honeywell) but I didn't get a raise when I finished, what a crock. We'll see how l long I stay there. Anyway, good luck to you, it's great you'll get a raise for your effort, sounds like a good company!
I decided shortly after undergraduate school that a college degree was akin to a high-school diploma back in my parents' days, and that a master's was the new college degree, so I returned after a year in the work force and obtained my master's. Fortunate thing is it's like any other piece of paper denoting you've jumped through the hoops: it doesn't seem to matter what it's in -- just that you've got it. Mine's an M.A. in English with an emphasis in teaching rhetoric and composition. Congratulations, and enjoy the extra free time this year!
Thanks, guys. I honestly don't know if I would have been as motivated to do it if it wasn't available in an online format so I could work at my own pace and on my own schedule. I'll agree with Greg, though, and while I'm proud of the degree, and I did learn some great techniques to incorporate in the classroom, it's largely just another paper trail necessary to "advance" me through our pay scale and qualifications (professional development). Either way, I'm glad it's done, but now I'm not so sure about that doctorate degree I was contemplating
MGH, I wish I could get an online Masters in Public Administration. I was actually endorsed by the former Superintendent at my job to get a Masters of PA at George Mason University but it consisted of twice a week driving up North in rush hour traffic. I have three children and a great wife that need me so I decided against it. Now if it were an online program I would do it. I have already completed 18-20 hours of prograduate classes in education and child psychology.
Congrats!!!! I'm thinking about doing the online thing but I don't know I have the discipline to stick with it.
