My 18 year old Daughter Hallie told me awhile back she would like to Bowfish. Noooo she never would with Dad!!! But when she got older she has a boy friend that Bow fishes and Bow hunts, so now she is interested. I thought up something special for her and this is what I came up with. I started with a cheap E-bay find of a Browning micro midas, youth/ladies Bow. Its a 29-40 lb Bow with a very adjustable draw length of 18-28". Im not going to post all the pics as I took ALOT of pics from start to finish.
First the finished Bow, other than a tune and tied knock sets.

The Bow as I bought it from e-bay and acessories.

I started with dismanteling the Bow, then 2 coats of primer with sanding in between. Then used a base coat of Gold as the cany color I used later requires a base since its transparent. paint products were ppg automotive bas coat clear coat. After the Gold it was covered in 2 coats of candy apple red. Next is where it gets interesting. I wanted the cracked or marbleing effect in the candy so next step was to give a quick coat of silver then while wet imediatly lay plastic wrap on paint and lightly press it in and remove. This is what that looks like!
After that dries it was a light coat of candy back over it. (remember its transparent) to give it the original color back but now with a marbaling under it and it turned the paint a litghter color almost a pinkish tone. I had made a couple of stencils of mean skeleton fish for each limb. OH See the nice pink X-zacto knife? well I droped it, felf it hit the top of my foot that were sporting flip flops, looked down and it was standing straight up and down buried to th base in my foot! yeah I now know a sharp broad head goes in unfelt. I shed alot of blood on that one!! After all wa said and done I applied 3 coats of clear over it to seal it off. The pics dont bring out the details of the marbalizing very well but when its in the sun, it really pops. Also dibs to sling braid on a killer wrist sling, nobody does it better! The rest is the new hydro glide, and the reel an AMS pro!

Danno, you're a good egg and a good dad. The fishslayer looks awesome, and your daughter will love it!

She will also be proud to know that her old man keeps a mini Goodyear blimp hanging in the garage, which definitely bumps your swaggometer up to "total badass" level.

With that said, I hope your little girl is a better bowhunter than her old man. Zing!

I think you need to tell your wife that your foot wound is turning colors, you've lost the feeling in all of your toes and you got some overspray on the minivan - just to see how she handles it.

LMAO Quick,,,,,does a set of Giant Mickey Thompson tires on a tubed Vega wagon make the swagemeter go up also? Thanks everyone,,Tonight I will tune it, tie the knocksets and finish putting the arrow together then it will be ready. Is it standard to use a release for Bowfishing (slow paced) no flying carp :p She didnt like the idea of putting no gloves on the string!

Good stuff, crick! It takes a boy to get girls interested in the outdoors at that age. Dads just aren't cool enough. Its the reason that the number one rule for my daughter in regards to dating when she is older is, she can only date boys who hunt and/or fish. To which she responded, "duh, why would I date a guy that doesn't hunt or fish?" Kids...

Nice work Dan! A lot of care and love went into the making of that bow. I'm sure she'll love it. It'll let her know how lucky she is to have such an awesome dad.

By the way, I got a good chuckle out of the xacto knife incident. Sorry to laugh at your pain bud, but that is funny stuff there.

I'll bet they hurt, you dropped a knife through your foot!

I noticed the fingerprints but thought there was no way those were from a human finger and then remembered who posted this.
