Well, I finally finished clearing my food plot. This one is bigger than any of my other four. It is about 320 feet long by about 35 feet wide. Roughly about a 1/4 acre. I'll tell you one thing, it is easier said than done!. It took me 3 weekends to get this far. Two of which were cut short due to break downs. This sort of thing is hard on equipment. I broke my grapple once and my quick attach once also. I had both fixed by the following weekend. Here is the thread when I first started the project. http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?33673-Making-a-new-food-plot-in-my-woods

Next, I'll be dragging it out and preparing it for lime and fertilizer before planting. Then I will be hinge cutting arount the perimeter for added security.

Here's what it looked like before I started.

Still looks pretty shady and those trees are gonna suck a lot of moisture out of the ground too. I can really tell the difference around the edges of my food plots where the tree roots reach out into them. If stuff grows in there it will be a killer spot. Good luck.

I thought the same thing. Not to say it looks bad. I had to cut some good trees down to get the most light on my plots. I removed the trees that blocked the morning sun, since it get so hot in the evening. But it might work. Mine didn't last year so i made changes this year. Best of luck to you.
