Well, after 3 years of hard hunting, I finally got a buck. I got him Saturday morning, when i thought I wouldn`t see anything (it was abnormally warm, 50 Degrees). Even this late, and that warm, he was still chasing a doe. The doe came out and hung around for about 5 minutes before I noticed another deer. My dad was planning on shooting the doe with his crossbow, but I told him to wait. Next thing I know, there was a buck at 15 yards. The wind was perfect at first, but as luck would have it, it shifted and blew right at them. The buck was focused on the doe, but the doe was focused on us. As soon as the wind shifted, they both started smelling us, and the doe just stared at us for about 10 minutes. Even though I think the buck smelled us, he never spooked (but she sure wanted to). During all this time, they never moved from 15 yards. They literally sat there for about 10-15 minutes. It was just enough time to get me shaking like a leaf. Finally, the doe had enough and started to walk off (this is the first year they have ever been hunted, so they didn`t quite know what we were). As the doe left, the buck started following her. I tried 3 times to get my bow drawn, but i couldn`t get it back, probably because i had planned on shooting from a standing position. Finally I got my ow back, along with my self-esteem, and the buck started walking so i grunted at him and let the arrow fly. I hit really high, and it hit lungs, along with partial spine. I didn`t want him to suffer, so i put 2 more arrows in him. He still wouldn`t die, so my dad shot him with his crossbow. This thing still lived for about 15 minutes. I was about ready to get down and kill him with my knife, when he finally died. So anyway I understand he is no giant, but after 3 years, and with my bow, I couldn`t be happier with him. By the way sorry for the long thread
