This year started out as a interesting one for me, With starting work and still being high school it didn't leave much time for hunting in there. But not about 5 hunts into the season a lay the smack down on my second archery doe. Then a week later on only my 6th hunt of the season i shoot my third ever archery doe making me 2 for 2 on the year. Feeling pretty good right about now it still takes me another 8 days to get back out in the woods. Now everything was perfect for this hunt this past Sunday, perfect wind, 40 degrees, and the bucks are finally starting to move in the daylight hours. It was going to be the first sit of the season for this stand and my brother and i have caught several nice bucks on camera in the area, so i was pretty excited at this point.

Upon getting to stand at about 3:30 i Had about 20 turkeys hang around me for the next three hours, never really offering a good shot though. Then suddenly out of no where i spot a does working in and passing not ten yard from my stand. After this i hear footsteps about 50 yards behind the doe and up comes the eight point that we have about a dozen pictures of my earlier that month. He passes right into my shooting lane, i grunt and Smack!!! Smoked him. The recovery was pretty much like fallowing a red carpet all the way too him. In all he went about 80 yards and died next to a trail. He grossed out at 112 1/8 and I'm very happy with him being my first archery buck.

All in all this makes me 3 for 3 on the year and by far my most succesful year as a hunter. Also its real nice to finally put the smackdown on my brother for a change on more then shooting my bow this summer:rock:

Congrats on a great season! I never looked to see if you accepted my challenge on the buck challenge thread, but I figured a rematch was in order as neither of us had success last year. You truly have had a great season, and we'll have to have a wager for a payoff at the GTG next year.
