Well, today my buddy and I hit up the farm to check trail cameras. His SwampGhost was set beside my Reconyx over a alfalfa field between two corn fields. His camera had 83 photos and my Reconyx had 1,889 pics. We checked his camera and had nothing but does. After going though over 1,000 of my photos we finally got pics of a legal buck and he is a dandy We still havn't got anymore or better pics of this guy... But we will be putting out a new Reconyx HyperFire and a Bushnell Trophy Cam this coming weekend along with replacing batteries in my buddies Swamp Ghost (his batteries died right before the bucks showed up this week)
Great bucks..... Good luck with them. I would be very curious how the Busnell does agaisnt the Reconyx.
Definitely a nice buck but I'm a little surprised about the Reconyx nighttime image quality. Not knockin' your camera, just curious.
yeah the pic at night looked dim and not great quality but ive seen and heard good things about them so that is surprising.
Thanks guys, Donnie... the camera has been slipping alot since the bear got ahold of it. I still havn't sent it back simply because I didn't want to have the camera out of comission for awhile. The pictures of the big nine are especially bad because of the dew on the camera. The fence row that it is on is really tough for night pictures with any camera simply because the cameras face to the SW and the wind carries the moisture off the fields right onto the cameras.
Great buck BM!! One thing everyone here should realize Is when any IR camera takes pics the more stuff (tree's, brush or whatever) Is close to the deer the better the night time pics will be. That's the stuff that gathers the light. The more junk there the better the pics.
Thats a really good point Steve, and one that is often overlooked, especially when you add in a "no glow" IR flash.
Thanks guys, We believe the first buck is a big 7 point that we hadn't seen on the farm since early June. Its hard to tell with him being so far away and running, but he looks really good and we believe him to be a 3-1/2 year old. The second buck is a big 6 point that we have spotted several times throughout the summer. He has great width and no tine length. He is safe for another year as he is illegal on this property. The third buck, the big nine point, is a new deer for the year. These are the first pictures we captured of him this year, but we believe that we may have one of his sheds from last year which was found in a standing cornfield about 100 yards from where this picture was taken. I can't help it.... I have a VERY itchy trigger finger when season rolls around:D
