Well first I want to start by saying my buddy has a house over at Kellys Island Ohio, which is perfect. A Log cabin, with my own lodge, internet, big screen tv. It was living large for the weekend, thats for sure. He filled me in, showing me some trail camera pics of some nice bucks to get me excited. Unfortunitly, the bucks didnt feel like moving this weekend, only saw a few from a distance. I saw something moving first morning, i thought was a coon, but was a squirrel. I asked my buddy how their squirrels get so big over here. He said wait till i show you my mount inside, their huge. so i took a picture of his Squirrel, which you guys should get a kick out of, and some bucks he has killed over here int he past, haha. CRazy! First morning I was there, it took all of 15 minutes to start seeing deer, but all does. I still have my doe tag, and only have about 2 weeks to fill it, so i waited and watch these does play for 30 minutes. So i said screw it, if one gives me a chance im taking it, since i have only had 1 bow kill in my career. Which was a doe last year. So I was still pretty excited about harvesting this doe for sure. Well, she had no clue i was there, about 25 yards out. I drew on her, and let it fly, but for some reason i hit her relatively high. Didnt spine her, but I think i might of hit a main artery or something, because she only went about 50 yards and I heard her crash. I didnt get much penatration, I saw the arrow sticking out when she was running away, but it did the trick. Rage broadhead did the trick, huge entry and exit wounds, and a massive blood trail, but still felt kind of crappy i shot and hit her high. I guess you live and learn. Here are some pics of the trip below. Still in persuit of Mr. Mass. Overall, great trip and even though she wasnt the biggest doe, i felt pretty please. I got to fill up the freezer a bit. NIcely done! Any deer with a bow is a great trophy, and meat for the freezer is never a bad thing. Looks like your buddy has a pretty sweet setup there!
thanks guys...still lookin for that buck..hopefully happens.... Gun starts the 30th of this month and youth in like 2 weeks..i would love not to even pick up a gun this year....
