Well we are finally getting some much needed rain here thank you mother nature Sent from my LG-E739 using Tapatalk 2
Still none here. I goes right to the north and right to the south. But I'm glad someone is getting the much needed rain.
We had about a 15 minute shower mid day then it poured most of the night. The problem for me is i need the rain where i hunt more than where i live lol Sent from my LG-E739 using Tapatalk 2
all it did here was give us a tease...... blew in about 8pm. cooled off and dark clouds rolled in but no rain
We got an ok shower here. The forecast looks like it may rain some more later today. It's been crazy dry here, even the some crops are turning yellow & withering.
We were in the worst part of this summers drought according to the maps...but starting about a week ago the flood gates finally opened. We got rain like 5 of the last 7 days, several inches at that. Its a day late and a dollar short as most crops are ruined and grass is crispier than fried chicken, but it is a nice relief from the 110 degree temps.
Record droughts around my parts in central indiana. Most of the crops around here might as well run the disc through, there's no ears. My family has couple hundred acres and we're lucky because it's some of the best land around, but even then, it won't hold out much longer without rain. Our creeks are dry. The only positive is the part of the state that has gotten rain is where I just set a camera up over a small pond far from civilization.
Maybe some tonight/early am. Hope so. We arent bad yet here, but still way to dry... Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk 2
Nothing at the farm in months. I just bush hogged most of my corn down and disced up 1/2 of my beans. Planted these a week later than the other half and they never came up more than one here and there. Getting ready for fall plots instead of worrying about these. I also bought a 100 gallon water tank and filled up my water holes and watered my apple trees from the neighbors hydrant. Hauled 500 gallons today.
We did end up getting a brief downpour yesterday evening. K and I were out working on the fencing and it was enough to get us mostly soaked. Maybe a tenth of an inch or so. It's not near what we need but it sure didn't hurt. More please!
I am really worried about how this is going to affect the economy in the near future. I just see the prices of everything going sky high. let alone what its gooing to do to the deer pop around us
here is a clip I just watched on our midwest corn crops http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/vi...c+videos&rel=msn&from=en-us_msnhp&form=msnrll
Corn here in central Illinois is showing it to......... actually some up until recently hasnt looked all that bad........some has but not all. Saw some today about shoulder high, mostly brown and ears dropped already.
The corn in my field is about 8' tall already not one ear on them. I don't know a lot about corn or farming but i thought they would have cobs on them by now Sent from my LG-E739 using Tapatalk 2
That is some of the tallest i have heard of......... lots around here is shoulder high....... it was planted early this year and some tassled at about 4 feet high towrds end of june. Its got ears here but cant be much on them.
The farmer across the road and down the road from me is corn king in this country. He always has the best corn. It's well over my head and now it's starting to show signs of stress in the past week. Today we got enough rain to wet the grass... that's about it. then just at dark we got a little more. I hope it pours.
