Well guys, I am happy to announce that my "honey hole" property has FINALLY produced a picture of a big mature buck. Some guys remember me talking about this property over the last 10 plus years and it was always good for holding a few nice bucks every year..... well, up until about 2006 or so. For the last 4 or 5 years the property hasn't had any bucks over 100" and this year was looking bad. I put my Reconyx up over some corn last Saturday and checked it Tuesday, I had 1,250 pics and out of them, the biggest was a 7 point that would be straining to get into the 80" range. I let it go a few days and finally checked it today to find that I had 3,289 photos since Tuesday. The pics started out with the same 4 bucks, a 3 pt, a 5 pt, a 6 pt, and a 7pt....I figured the property was going to be a bust again this year. After looking over more than 2,500 photos I finally had a nice buck show up.

He's not a monster, but he is a nice sized 8 with a main beam that drops and good tine length. As soon as I saw this photo I knew that he was going to be the buck that I focused on, he was going to be my one and only target buck as he is the biggest buck that I have got pics of from this property in 5 years.....

    All that changed when....

And now I have my actual target buck... :biggun:

I know everybody has a love/hate relationship with the "guess the score" posts, but lets see what you guys come up with.... I am getting right around the 113" to 115" range.

Awesome buck, BM. He's not a super-scorer, b/c he's got weak 1's and 3's, but don't let that take anything away from him - that's a GREAT buck.

I'd go 115, and note that his score doesn't do his frame justice.

    Good luck with him!

    Now the REAL question...

Will you pass the first spike that walks by in order to have a shot at him?

Thanks guys, its nice to actually have some hope going into the season. Greg, a spike isn't legal here anymore, 3pt. antler restrictions.....kind of stinks because I've always wanted a huge spike on the wall haha. I actually got a doe tag this year simply to help me stick to my goals. I will say that the first buck would be tempting but I am dedicating this entire season to getting my girl her first deer.

LOL... you know I couldn't resist giving you a hard time after watching you post trail-cam pics of all those monsters over the years...

All I hope is that you enjoy your season -- WHATEVER you shoot. :)

Greg, I hear ya buddy. I have had some big bucks on cam over the years, thing is over the last 5 or so, those bucks were on properties I don't hunt much.... I had fun every year though. Last year I let some decent bucks walk in hopes that they would make it one more year and it seems like it worked. Last year was only the 2nd time I haven't filled my tags. I finally have hope for this property along with knowledge from the past two seasons....I know exactly where this buck is bedding, I know that when he gets up out of his bed he works his way through some x-mas trees to where my cam is, then works his way across a stream bottom to a cornfield. I have the knowledge, I have the access, and as long as nothing changes I will have the opportunities.... I just need to pick my time and make it count.

BM, you're in western PA arent' ya? I think the AR's are starting to become obvious all across the "normal" parts of the state. Sorry 2G guys. I'm seeing more and more nice racked bucks in the fields about everywhere I drive these days.

Good luck on that guy. He's definitely a pretty buck.

I too have a doe tag burning a hole in my pocket. I say it every season, that I'm going to take a doe as soon as possible and never do. This year darn it, I'm doing it at the first opportunity I get!

He looks good Jason. You up for some eastern PA vs. western PA action again this year? If so, like Greg said you gotta lay off the trigger with those young guys. :poke:

Yea, this buck is from 2E in Indiana County. The antler restrictions are really working, but this property has had development all around it lately and it has really taken a hit on deer numbers and buck size. This property is surrounded in a maximum security prison, the county jail, the local airport, numerous houses and businesses.
