Go get 'em Joe! I recommend Ma and Pa diner in Plymouth, if you get a chance. Update if you can, be safe!
Looking forward to a bunch of pics. I'm a little jealous of your road trip. Tough times don't last. Tough people do. Good luck to ya, congrats on your promotion, now go kill a deer. P.S.- Don't speed on that turnpike.
Question is how are you going to transport your buck back with that little RiceRocket???? Quartering ?
yooo!!!!! funny, I saw some bowhunting.com stickers on a Pontiac sunfire in Ohio with some younger guys....was beepin at'em and pointed to my BHOD hat...good times!!!! when he got off the interstate, he rolled the window down and waved...(maybe he flipped me off? LOL). scouted today and found the only straight tree in Illinois, saw lots of deer, smaller bucks chasing. saw a small basket 8, then near 5 ish I saw a nice shooter 8 pointer, im guessing 130 class....and I decided to pass!! here's a pic from my stand, and a video of the buck!!!! the buck was about 60 yards away, so I called him in with a snort wheeze 2 times, he came running crashing in to see who was in his area...I can't believe how well the snort weeze worked!!!! day 2!!!! crazy chasing action!!! I saw 6 SHOOTER bucks chasing snorting and wheezing after one small doe @ 25 yards...120 class to 160 class, couldn't get one of them to stop!! later on I had a 8 point 120 class at 30 yards, decided to pass I want bigger!! im going deeper in after the big boys tomorrow. my hunting partner cashed in on a beautiful 130ish 9 pointer!! smelliest buck ive ever been near, he was all rutted up already!!!! What a great day overall!! I will be posting updates nightly! thanks for following!
Day 3!!!! more chasing, the big boys are chasing!! it was a day of frustration for me. I decided to go in deeper. so I did, and for the life of me I could not find a straight tree for a climber. THAT is my own undoing, and is the downfall for me this trip,,,my fear of heights has made me limit my chances of nailing a giant. I'm hunting for straight trees, rather than hunting deer. IT SUCKS, im really disappointed in myself. I found rub lines on trees 6 inches in diameter....scrapes that smelled so foul and rutted up...but I cant hunt them because there are no straight trees..if I had a LW and some LW sticks, I am confident that I would have already sent out the BBD text. so THAT is my goal for this offseason, overcome my fear of heights so I can use a LW hang-on and LW sticks. around 230 I was able to find a hot scrape that reaked like a rutted up buck, and finally a 10" diameter straight tree I could climb about 15 yards away. that's where I will be tomorrow all day. the rain on and off made the day seem a bit longer. I'm feeling the pressure a bit as we go into Wednesday, as we reach the half way point of the hunt, however I DO NOT regret my decision to pass on the bucks i had chances on. this hunt is living up to everything I had hoped it would be, and I can garuntee I am DEFINATELY booking with the same outfitter next year, same farm same/land garunteed for the same first week of November. hopefully tomorrow will finally bring a big buck down for me. thanks for reading
