Well the ATA show wasn't a total bust. Made some good contacts, and set up a deal to get me a killer deal on my first recurve. I'm getting a Martin Mamba, 45# at 28", should be in within the next week. Can't say what I gave, but I can say that it was a no brainer to finally get my foot in the trad door.

Anybody have any arrow suggestions? It'll be odd NOT having to buy a bunch of accessories for a bow this go around.

Maybe I'll get good enough to take a deer next fall with it.

I could care less what arrows I use Steve to be honest...Just need em to shoot true and hopefully not be too expensive! lol A buddy of mine is real big into the Trad scene so I am going to have him help me set it up and tune it once I get it in.

Congrats brother! You'll enjoy it bigtime! Its just plain fun to shoot and hit what you looking at! There expensive but a very durable arrow, Arrow Dynamics, AD Lites might work perfect for your set up, give Paul at Badger Arrow a call and he should be able to get you in the ballpark, then take if from there!

    Congrats.

I'm gonna "guess" you're borderline between CX 90's and 150's. You could go with the 90's (probably) and shoot lighter tips. You'd probably need to beef up tip weight to shoot 150's....because I'm betting you're not gonna draw 28".

As far as expense, carbons will be cheaper in the long run. More durable.

Good luck. (I don't have any experience with other arrows)

I use full length G/T Traditionals ( carbon ) , great , strong , durable and come with a wood grain effect , so they look Trad too . Badger Arrows is a great place to start , style'em like you want'em .

Badger's got great prices and CS. ONLY thing I'll caution you on is this......he won't fletch LW. If he did, I'd order from him.

Jeff my buddy just got some arrows from Paul on Monday that were LW, I just got a bag of True Flight feathers that were LW. I know he talked to him on the phone and asked for LW on his arrows, which I'm 99.9% positive is what he got, they looked LW to me anyway! Hmmm curious....

I tried to order from him last year when he was running a deal. That (no LW) was a deal-breaker, for me. Maybe he's seen the light.

If he's doing the fletching why does it matter if they're LW or RW? The only reason LW/RW makes a difference is to make sure your jig matches the feathers you have but if you're getting them already fletched by someone else I can't see how it makes a difference.

    Sure it does.

LW feathers allow me to shoot cock feather "out" with very little concern given to feather clearance.

I use the cock feather as "AN" anchor reference, so the orientation (out) is a big deal, to me. I can't do this with RW fletch.

I'd be watching my rest for wear (I cut through mine in about a month....sealskin). Cock vane out......the bases don't clear it nearly as good.

Bow hasn't arrived yet. Should have shipped out this week from the factory, so I hope to have it within the next few weeks. Thanks for the advice guys.
