Finally got around to picking up my turkey mount. Almost forgot about it since it was gone for so long. Here is a little write up about the hunt. I thought I had a thread on here about it but I can’t find. So I took this from my FB. If you just want to see the pics just keep scrolling.

I started my week out working a 60 hour shift on the ambulance. The only thing getting me through that was knowing I would be turkey hunting Thursday morning. As I got off work and looked at the forecast, I saw it was calling for rain the next two days. I was little bummed because those were the only days I could hunt before heading back to work. I was able to borrow a pop up blind from Trevor so I could stay dry while hunting. It was a uneventful morning. The rain finally let up and I heard a couple gobbles. Nothing came to the decoys after some calling. So I made a decision to find the bird behind me. It was about 12:30 and in IL hunting goes until 1 o'clock. As I step out of the blind I see a Tom strutting across this big field on a timber edge. I started the stalk. I followed him into the timber and hopped tree to tree. Finally he walked through a open area and I took the shot. He instantly dropped. I couldn't believe I just stalked this bird over 300 yards. It's my biggest bird to date and one hell of a hunt.

Natures Own Taxidermy in SW WI did the work. I’m supper happy with how it turned out. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Beautiful mount and great workmanship. It is just me but I think them birds are damn ugly, I don't like them coming around.
