Well after tweaking and adjusting sights and my rest I was finally successfully in tuning my bow to fixed blade broadhead. To me this is an accomplishment. Knowing that when I shoot my bow whether fieldtip or fixed blade I will have the confidence that they will be on. In the woods I won't shoot over 30 yards, nor can I with how thick it is. For the record this took several shooting sessions because the wind would get bad, or it'd be raining, or I would just get plain tired. This shot was at 30 yards. This one felt right and hit exactly where I wanted it to.
Good deal and congratulations. So many bow shops just install and eyeball stuff so its always best to learn how to do this on your own and it rewarding. Now all that is left is practice, practice, practice. Congrats again.
Yeah practice is key in this. For this I really focused on form. Whenever I shoot I try my best, but was very particular in watching where my feet was, how my grip was, where my anchor was, where the string touched my nose, how level my bow was, and how my breathing was. One thing I know is that with fixed blades, if your form is a little out of whack the shot will tell you. It might not seem like a big deal to most, but I know a lot of people who either change their sights until they are good, or just shoot mechanical.
I always tune with a fixed blade head first and then check the expandables. 99% of the time they fly good.
Nice job, I too taught myself how to tune my bow this year. I really like how through the process I learnt so much more about the mechanics of the bow, my shooting form and everything going on in the microseconds of the release cycle. Clem
A properly tuned bow is worth the effort. Now you know for sure the bow is on whether you shoot field points, fixed, or mechanical. If you travel to hunt at all, always take a tuned set of fixed blades. Some states do not allow mechanicals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good stuff. Broadhead tuning is a regular part of my tuning process whether it is winter or I am getting ready for hunting season. It is a great tool. -Mike
