After a frustrating September and October I was able to close the deal with this nice PA buck yesterday afternoon. Not the biggest deer in the world, but hard fought and meat on the table nonetheless. Very thankful to God for this deer. I saw him around 8AM and he didn't respond to a grunt call. Around 11am I then got out of my hang-on stand, grabbed the climber from the car went down to where I heard him chasing a doe on a creek bottom. I found some overturned leaves and set up where I thought they might be coming out of the bedding area. Then I climbed up a really tall tree and waited. Sure enough, 4.5 hours later, out comes the doe with this guy behind her. She looked right up at me, I stood still, then she looked away. He never even saw me. I stopped him at 20 yards and got off a quick shot before he was out of the shooting lane. He ran 40 yds then rolled over and kicked around before expiring.
It is great when we make a decision to change and it works out... This year it did for me as well. Congrats on the Buck!
