Well last night was my night! I have hunted this property pretty hard for the past 5 years now. I have taken 2 bucks here in that time, my first one ever, which was with a rifle in 2010, and my first bow buck in 2011. Both wernt much to brag about but I was happy with them for sure. Last year I was able to hunt more hours then ever before, and despite a close call or 2, I came up empty handed. Fast forward to last night. I got set up in the stand around noon. Temps in the mid 50s, wind was gusty, weather man claimed mostly cloudy but the sun sure was trying to give this ginger a burn even through my camo. Was a slow day with little to tell, so Im trying to drag this out to make it look better haha. Anyway, no deer until around 6. I was on a field edge, field is only around 50 yards wide. In the woods across the field I could see a deer walking in from the pipeline that was recently cut through there. Looked like a big body to me and as soon as I got the binoculars on it I was pretty sure it was a shooter. Could never get a great view of it but a flash here and there through the trees. He went in by a stand I was going to hunt but voted against it, so I was a bit frustrated at first. Gave a few grunts with no visual response from him. After a few minutes I lost sight of him. Was about to text my buddy that I seen one when I caught movement of him working through the woods, and lost sight again a minute later. Gave a few more grunts but figured he was on his way up the hill to check a bedding area. Again I was getting ready to reach for my phone when I looked up and there he was coming into the field. He came straight across, never slowing down and heading down wind of me to my left, about 30 yards. I was scared to try and stop him because he was down wind so I drew and hoped he would slow down. He did and I let it fly. Not the best shot but with a little luck it worked out just fine in the long run. No monster here, a little over 110", but I am super proud. My biggest buck so far, and done with my bow! And above that, this might be my last year on this property, so feels great to leave it with a new rack on the wall! A few minutes before the shot when he was by my other stand: Killzones are no joke!
Very nice PA buck for sure and something to be proud of my friend. Great story. Are you sure you are using the Killzone? Holy cow... thats insane!
Congrat's on a nice buck. Never worry about what it's going to score as long as your happy who cares.
