Well im finally convinced. I have always been a big Buck Growl fan and bought one after they came out. The all the hype about the Buck Roar started. I was wondering what the differnce was. So I picked one up lastweek. I love the call. I love the option of the challenge weeze and the tunable reed feature. The roar sounds great. Cant wait till the bucks start chasing this week so I can give the roar a real test. The growl sounds great as well but you have to be carefull on how hard you blow into it or youll call in every duck and goose around. I blew real hard in the roar and it didnt squeak. Im convinced that the roar sounds better than the growl, but will it out perform?

I have looked at the Buck Growl a few times at the stores but never picked one up. I do have the Buck Roar and you are right about blowing to hard. I might just have to pick up the Growl to try it out!

I haven't used the growl, but I do use the buck roar. I used it a little bit last year and it brought a mature 9 point right under my tree.

You've got It mixed up Ferg. The Roar Is the one made by Primos and that's the one you can blow pretty hard In without It sounding like a duck. The Growl made by M.A.D. Is the one that sounds like a duck at times, I got that one last year and I hate It. I just picked up the Roar made by Primos yesterday, I love the sound of It. To me It really blows away the competition.

We are selling both the Roar and the Growl, so no matter which one you want we've got it. :D

BTW - I've only used the Growl and haven't been too impressed with the sounds it can make when I'm too hard on it. However, it does work great as a standard grunt call. I may try out a Roar and see what I think next weekend...

I have had the duck sound out of my Roar several times. Maybe I just have a bad one.

I am aware of that. But I actually think that I have a bad one. It doesn't take much at all to get the duck to come out!!! And to blow it low enough to sound correct you can't hear it more then a few feet away.

Now you have me wondering. I don't remember it having any problems when I first got it. I will have to look at it when I get home tonight. Wonder if I messed up the reed when it was in my backpack.

I don't remember for sure or not, but I was playing around with the roar and i twisted the rubber neck around and it made it sound pretty bad. Maybe you should try twisting it?

I picked up the "Buck Roar" last year, I also grabbed one of those "The Can" things. Well, I kept the Roar, in my pack for most of the year, only taking it out on a really slow day. But one morning, I used it for a couple minutes, then followed it up with a turn of the can, while I was watching a doe, and her little ones. Suprising to me, there was a small 8ptr, just about ten yards behind me. I wasnt paying attention. But anyway. he took off towards the doe, looking for breakfast I assume, but he stopped just off of my shooting lane, and turned around. when he started heading away, I took out the Roar, and gave it a belch. Suprising to me, he started huffing and puffing (thought he was going to blow my tree down.:))
He just came stomping right back to me. (I got him)

So, that was what sold me on this call.
This year, I used it to call in a small doe. She was through a thick mess of downed trees. Came right to me. (No, I didn't even grab my bow. she still had the little face on her.) Fun to watch though.

Man I picked up a Buck Roar last year and the first time I used it 29th Oct, I saw a OLD buck go by and as he got out there I thought why not? so each time I lightly grunted he turned and came back then as he went away a third or fourth time I "roared" at him and he came back pawing the ground spitting and ready for a fight, so I shot him. I guess I won that fight.

But the year before I heard that sound while hunting and did not know what it was. But the buck that I was watching went right at it, that convinced me when I saw that thing. I bought one right away.
