It's been a frustrating trailcam summer for me. Lots of does/fawns, coyotes, and bears, but not many solid shooter bucks after May. I decided to check a field edge cam today on my way home from the parents since it's a low impact spot along the field, and came home to find this fella: He looks similar to my 9 from three seasons ago, but slightly wider, and better height. I have an idea where he was coming from (this was shot around midnight), and I have some plans for a mobile hunt or two since I will probably only get one or two shots at him in this area before it's busted, but it's a little more uplifting heading into the season now.
Thanks, this was a homebrew Sony 40. Decided to head back out and check another cam on the east side of the property, and was pleasantly surprised. Turns out I got the same buck above on this cam about an hour later that morning: Plus, this fella :D
ive had the same problem this year aswell. alot of small bucks some little eights that would score about 100 but not alot of shooters... hopefully you connect on one of those deer matt. good luck
Matt, It's always a great motivator to see your quarry! I've got over 11 different bucks on film so far this year, but nothing over 125 - 130. I did see a nice buck, but haven't got him on film yet... Best of luck to you this season, your got to be raren to go with that big fellow lurking! Kevin
once the season grows older bucks that arent "residents" of the property will still cross through scent checking for does. So you may never get a good picture but you still have a chance at a big boy!
Very nice Matt, I knew it was only a matter of time till you got a target buck on camera. I moved my cam over a stream crossing between a soybean field and a bedding area (have a stand 19 yards from the crossing) and I've been getting pics of Fieldgoal almost every morning around 6:45 a.m. moving in to bed! Season can't get here fast enough!
