I'm looking for information on hanging filming stands. Do you hang them in the same tree above the stand you are hunting out of or do you hang them a little higher than the stand your hunting in a tree next to it? I'm new to filming I started self filming two years ago and this year my brother in law asked if he could go out with me and film me as I hunt for a project for one of his college classes. He has to have a 2 hour movie about a subject of his choice and he has to do all the filming of it and he chose to do hunting Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Typically the stands are placed in the same tree. That way you can communicate with the hunter when you have the animal on film as well as having a similar angle as the hunter. Sometimes the hunter will have a clear shot but the camera doesn't or the other way around. You need to be able to communicate with each other so you know everyone is on the same page. Generally the stand is set up over the hunters shooting shoulder and high enough to be out of their way. Usually around a 90 degree angle difference between the hunter and the camera man.
Geez I hope your not from a liberal state like me. The whole class and professor will be up in arms about killing poor defenseless animals. He would probably fail the course if he lived here.
We're in indiana and he already got it okayed by the professor. All the professor asked is that no ar rifles are used Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
