Well last year I began Filming my bow hunts and more than a few times I was halted by rain. So My Plastic bag cover kinda stuck out like a sore thumb and was loud but it was all I had at the time. I did some fustrating shopping online and found I could drop a wad of cash on a waterproof video camera( NOT GONNA HAPPEN ) and waterproof camera covers sold for $95.00 up to $300.00 :( and said Screw That I'll make my own cover, So I remembered I had a large sewable plastic cover that came with a quilt I purchased and plenty of camo material scrapes around.. so Ibroke out the sewing machine and went to work making my own Waterproof Camo Camera Cover. Here ar some pics of it and there is a chance of rain tommorow so I might get to test it out and see how it works and then make any needed modifications.

That is a really nice camera cover. Looks like you put a lot of thought into it. Good luck on the filming AND hunting this year.

Well finally after over 3 weeks of no rain a thunderstorm just blew in so I raced out side with the camera with the new waterproof camera cover on it and let it sit in the rain. I periodicaly checked it to make sure the camera wasnt getting wet, and then played with it for a bit to see how it all worked in the rain, make sure I could see the screen clearly through the plastic ... until the lightning started to get to close and then I Sissy'd Up and grabbed the camera and ran back inside.
So far I think the only modification I am going to make is to test RainX on a piece of the plastic to see if it will help to bead the rain off the outside of the plastic so I can see the screen more clearly and maybe also test some Anti Fog on a test piece of plastic for inside the cover.
Here she is sitting out in the rain.

Hey that's almost as cool as my texting handwarmer. (that I did not make, because I have zero sewing talent) Okay.. it's cooler than the texty thing.

    I'm still using a plastic baggie. :(

That texting hand muff you got is still way cool.
Now if you bring me your camera on friday I will make you a cover for it... I just have to find some Hello Kitty Fabric to make it with that way it will match your Hello Kitty Rattling Antlers I made for you ;) HAAAAAHAAAAAA

Great looking cover. Excellent placement of the windows. I have found that when filming in the rain, which usually leads to humidity, it's best to ditch the LCD and use the eye piece. Trying to frame up a deer through fogged plastic on a 2 inch LCD is difficult at best and impossible at worst when the adrenaline is pumping.

Bry, The fogging up plastic issue is why I want to test out using some antifog product on the inside plastic, the next time it rains here.
Have you tried any Antifog products on yours, if so how did it work for you?

The real problem I have is with my eyesight, So I wear glasses at all times when hunting for distance vision.. and I need reading glasses for up close ( I am already having a difficult time seeing the LCD Screen without my reading glasses).
So I experimented with progressive lenses and that was not an option for me ( I couldnt get them to line up properly for my shooting vision and the meeting of the 2 types of lenses had a curve in them that was distorting the image of the target downrange )
And I know the chances of me being able to view and frame the prey through the eyepiece and then be able to shoot it on camera arnt very good since they never seem to hold still when I want them to :(
And it would help if I could remember to turn on the dam camera, I always seem to get caught up in the moment and forget to hit the record button... Senior Blonde Moment

Deb, no I've never used any anti-fog product as I know some of them will craze certain plastics and I don't want to risk it. Besides even without fog it's a struggle to see the LCD through the plastic so I've given up on using it. One idea that might work is I see you've built a little shelf type device for over the lens of the camera. Perhaps you could do the same with the LCD with a clear plastic flap that could be lifted for viewing when a deer comes in. That way your LCD is still covered by the shelf and protected from blowing rain until you need to film, then it's only covered by the shelf which should be sufficient for a short time. Does that sound doable?

BBRY; Thats is very doable :) I actually saw one online that have that very function.
I decided not to do mine that way after I thought about it a bit.
I ususally setup the camera arm to film sitting down.
When I stand I have to look down at the LCD Screen.
The LCD screen would have to be tilted upwards for me to see it and I was afraid a blowing rain would then contact the LCD Screen.
But I have decided that I am going to make another one for a friend and I am going to try it with the hood for the LCD Screen and then we will see how that works. Keeping my fingers crossed.
