I'm exhausted just got my doe quartered and in the refrigerator. My first gut shot but also got lung and had good arrow blood and steady blood trail...she didn't make it far. Also first time I shot a deer in the evening vs. morning. Blood trail was sparse and stressful at times fighting darkness but she bled out in thick stuff 70 yards from my stand. Probably a yearling. Also, bear sighting in my neighborhood tonight made for exciting gutting/quartering! Happy as can be for tenderloins and backstraps! I have a buck tag and another doe tag to fill. This is my year for 2 deer (or 3?)!
Nothing better than dropping that first deer to put fresh meat in the house. Well done. I don’t know about dressing a deer with bears in the area. I’d want a few people around me with bear spray, a pistol and probably a 12 gauge.
