OK, finally came across a set of cams off of a Browning Barracuda Bowfishing Bow...no draw stop and 0% let off, great for snap shooting. I am going to put them on a Browning Rage I currently shoot, My bow has 10# stiffer limbs and limbs that won't shatter like toothpicks (like the Cuda is notorious for) . My bow has a 36" ATA 45-55# limbs Cuda has a 32" ATA 40# limbs Both cams are similarly sized, so clearance for them to turn over won't be a problem. Both work on a split yoke system for the two cables. Spare me the safety speech about why cams shouldn't be interchanged, I KNOW this bow will be just as safe as a Cuda would be. My question is this, how on earth do I figure the new string, cable lengths? Since I am using Cuda cams on a 4" longer ATA, it only seems logical to me to use Cuda string/cable lengths, only add 4" to each measurement? Is this correct? If they aren't too far off from my current string lengths, I may just twist them enough to make em work (cables), likely getting a new string regardless. Help a brotha out. If I get the string issue worked out, I may have a creation that proves to be the ultimate bowfishin rig.:d
I would say go with the 4" longer strings than the cuda, then twist accordingly. I dont think that saftey will be a big issue here, as long as you put everything together right! :d
People say the cuda hits hard for a low weight bow, I can't wait to see it with 15# heavier limbs...won't crank it up that high unless after bigheads, or saltwater fishies though...even the lightest bow will demolish commons and gar. Anyone else got any opinions on this? I am fixing to contact Browning for both the Cudas and Rage string lengths and see if I can get lucky and have them be 4" apart. now that would be sweet. LOL
You should be able to get the string and buss lengths here. Just make sure you have the right year selected: http://tune.browning-archery.com/
Hey thanks a million....Just saw on that sight, the dang Rage and Cuda have the SAME "Hypermax" cams, the cuda just dropped the draw stop and went to 0% letoff. This is mint. And to top it off, the difference in string/cable lengths IS just the difference in ATA....so I can even use my current strings. Definitely going to move ahead with this plan hopefully this afternoon.
Tradin for the cams Monday, hopefully I get them in in time for wearin em out this weekend...supposed to head down to KY lake for crappie fishing, but will likely take the bows and bowfish by night too. I am going to fit em on and make the current strings work, but I think I am going to go ahead and order some new strings though...these are startin to see the end of their life I think, lol. Soon as I get em in I am off to the shop, my portable press don't work on this bow , so I need to have it broken down for me. I also got a guy sending me 5 stainless steel eclips for the cam axles, my bow will officially be 100% rust proof now, from top to bottom.
