Had this on one of the cameras i pulled from today. Deer being chased by couple dogs. Can clearly see the dogs came through the swamp just to the left of the pic after them. Then there was a second chase a few hours later with a single dog coming to the camera.... Times should be visible on time stamp. I really think its was three different dogs, 2 in the first and 1 single one, but could have possibly been two though, cant tell real well. The last one looks like it could be a pit mix of some sort, looks a lot more lean. I really hope this doesnt become an issue, as i havent seen them before... Id hate for them not to like seeing me in the woods come bow season.... Cuz they are big dogs.. Big and Mean dont mix well.
The dogs are being dogs. I would think with a little research you can figure out who the owners are. They are the problem. If the owners don't cooperate I would trap them and take them to a no kill shelter.
yeah i know, i actually got 3 or 4 bucks on camera there this pull... nothin to great as of yet.. im hoping for a shooter in there somewhere though. this is the first time ive seen them with the camera being there since feb.
I hate people that who don't tend to their pets. This week I was moving a stand when two dogs came charging me in my woods. The first was a rot wilier and the second was a pit bull. Luckily the owner was not to far behind. I realized these were the two same dogs chasing deer a month or two earlier in my field. I told her, her dogs were chasing deer a couple months earlier and she said I don't think they could catch one huh? Well she said I don't usually walk this way but I was looking for a lost cow ok? Well this not sitting well with me. I hope these dogs don't cross my path again I'm not sure what I'm going to do. It seems to me when dogs start chasing game they will not stop unless they tied up or kept inside. I hope you can find the owners of yours dogs maybe they will listen or get the hint.
Get em outta there, the last thing id want is dogs chasin deer on my land, as stated find out who the owners are an handle it that way. If not sounds to me like trappin season opened.......
well problem is not a land owner nor is the hunt club. if the problem does continue i will send the pictures to someone in charge for sure and help get the proboem solved.
Dogs chasing deer is illegal in many states (in WI I believe wardens can shoot them if they are engaged in such a chase). Show the pics to a warden, they will probably find the owners and warn them.
i will be checking the cameras again in a few weeks so we will see what we are dealing with. Dogs are 100% legal in my part of the state so no warden will be shooting anything. if problem is there still, which i do not think it will be, then ill let skme of the board members know in the club. As of now, it will likely be my opening day stand, no dont want them ruining a spot.. there have been a few different bucks showing up on the camera but still gotta see how they develope.
We have had many dogs chasing deer on our land last year. We were not happy and talked to the owners but they didn't seem to care. Sadly we only saw three fawns and a doe all last season. They chased everything off our and neighboring lands. It was a pretty crappy deal and we are not very happy because they are starting to do it again this year. It's just a bad deal, because we put so much effort into keeping a healthy deer herd and managing it to the best of our abilities and then dogs ruin it. I hope the dogs chasing your deer leave and never come back
