Well as supposedly spring being apon us up here in the midwest I've been thinking about what i'll be planting on our farm. What I really have been thinking about is what kind of fertilizer I should be spraying before and throughout the summer. So i'm asking you guys for your opinion. What Fertilizers do you spray on your plots?
I have tried Montes Joy Juice a few times and never really noticed any results fro it. I just stick with the regular ag fertilizer.
I use Antler Kings Jolt Foliar fertilizer after the plants are 3 inches tall. I also use regular granular fertilizer and time of planting and a little bit broadcasted before a good rain.(clover - 0-0-60 / brassica 20-20-20 or 46-0-0)
X2. I've honestly never tried any spray fertilizer and stick to just granular fertilizer spread during planting or top dressing shortly before a rain. If you had a soil test done, it will tell you what specific fertilizer components (NPK) you would need for planting. The general guidelines I quoted from Jake_ are pretty spot on. I will add that if your PH is pretty well balanced, Triple 13 (13-13-13) or even triple 10 (10-10-10) will suffice for most legume/grain/brassica plantings based on my experience.
^ I agree. My thoughts is I want to give everything I can to help the plant grow. With this Foliar fertilizer it is a quick boost. Yes it doesnt replace proper a fertilizer program but it isnt intended to. Plus this cant burn the plants and I can spray it as often as I like. Last year in our drought conditions I sprayed it a few times. Watered the plot and gave it a little bit of nutrition to help grow was better then doing nothing. $30 bucks a bottle that covers 2 acres or a 1/2 acre plot 4 times isnt a bad deal I think. Any other ?'s about foliar fertilizer ask away.
No problem. One of these months it will warm up and we can start thinking about food plotting!. (I am in central wisconsin)
