I had to double check what site I was for a minute, thought I clicked on archerytalk by mistake. Dog threads ALWAYS go this way. I am a dog lover and have never even considered shooting a dog while hunting. However, I am sure if my wife or a family member were in serious threat of being hurt I would change my stance. I can also understand why farmers do. We have a small farm behind us that their pasture shares our back fence. That the family has 5 cows, a mini horse, and 8 goats. One day 3 dogs came out of the woods and started surrounding the smallest cow, best described as in between a calf and a heifer. I ran out and chased them off. Later the farmer thanked me, but said he wished I had killed them. I am positive if I wasn't there they would have at least injured that little cow trying to kill it. They have not been back, but he was pretty angry and I suspect he did some dog management.
the Op asked a question. I will never let concerns about the antihunting cult influence my speech. They can all go and kiss a dog's mammaries, for all I care.
