what feltchings should i use to gain maybe 5fps in arrow speed????? i would like my bow tho shoot somewhere near 320 fps
Gateway rayzor feathers work well for me and you won't find anything lighter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't use any, just shoot bareshafts. Without all of that drag on the rear of the arrow you should gain at least 5 fps.
You just made me spit coffee on my desk! But I guess if ALL you are looking for is a few extra fps, this might be the way to go.
heh........he said feltching. I'm 99.999999999% you didn't mean feltching....but I could be wrong. Feathers are just about as light as you can get, but I'd advise you to not setup a bow for hunting at 320+fps.
I thought "fetching" didn't sound right, too...but I know nothing of the sport and figured it was a word I need to learn. LOL.
Wow, this one is going sideways fast! The feathers are the way to go if you want a small increase in speed but you're not going to see a 5fps gain anywhere but at the chronograph. It'll take at LEAST 10 fps before you'll even recognize anything is different than the way it is now. And as a disclaimer to Bruce's post, while your bow, when properly tuned, will shoot an unfletched shaft equally as well as a fletched one, NEVER shoot an unfletched arrow with a broadhead on it!!!!
LOL I wasn't really serious. I was just trying to have a little fun over the 5fps in needed speed. As you know, animals can't be killed at 315fps :D . sidenote: I have shot bareshaft BH's before, just to see what would happen. The longer they were in the air, longer distances, the more interesting it got LOL. This was with a Muzzy Phantom without the bleeder. Under 20 yds everything was golden. Even at 30 there was just about 4-5 inches of dive and I think that had to to with blade orientation and tip weight more than anything. One of these days I am going to try the same experiment with something like a slick trick.
you guys know i meant fletchings! lol, anyways, its for a target bow, my hunting bow shoots somewhere around 329-335 fps...ive shot arrows with no fletchings, and it didnt go too well..i have gold tip devistator carbon arrows with shrinkfletch on them...but looking for something different.
