I live in Ky where horse feed/treats are plentiful and since it's a bigger market than deer feed/attractants it sells for a cheaper price. I've noticed that since both deer and horses are herbivores alot of deer and horse feeds contain the same ingredients. So my questions is has anyone ever tried using horse treats, blocks and feed for deer hunting? Now, I know that sweet feed in particular doesn't work well because it get soggy and deer usually won't touch it after the moisture gets ahold of it but what about those alfalfa hay blocks, and whole oat 50lb bags?

I've tried feeding the deer in my area with some left over grain that I had from my own small horse farm. I've found that the deer, in my area anyway, don't seem to like it. The raccoons on the other hand had a feast.

My cattle trough alway has deer tracks around it. I'll have to put a camera near it.
