Hey, if their going to shut it down, we need to shut the whole damn system down. We should all withhold our taxes until they get a budget. They can't send us all to prison for not paying our taxes. federal taxes only, we should still pay our state taxes, their not the ones sticking it to us.

Honestly, he doesn't need any help making himself look bad. He's an expert at it already.

Guess not. I talked to the worker there for 30 mins or so being I have a draw hunt there at the end of the month. Nothing out of the ordinary.

If that's true then there is no reason to close. More political BS!

I was gonna say the exact same thing. If they are still working and keeping their eye on things, and taking our tax money, it shouldnt effect the ability to hunt.

Places had to be open today until noon, some longer. All agencies were doing mandatory things to prepare for the worst. Each refuge or hatchery had certain guidelines they had to do prior to a shutdown. Employees still had to enter time sheets, lock all the areas, answer any emails.

Most of the "essential" employees are only allowed to do minimal work, though. Law enforcement might not be able to work for more than an hour a day during the shutdown. A lot of the essential employees aren't getting paid, either.

Finger Lakes National Forest in upstate NY is closed. They have given bow hunters camping there another day to pack up and leave.
