I am hearing that if a Federal shut down occurs it could limit hunters from going to public land. I have no idea if this is true. Below is an example from another website. Heartland Outdoors Forum
Very doubtful if this is true. Best of luck to the Feds trying to keep people off of public land in the west. As mentioned, if the Government shuts down, all of the non-essential Government employees will be sitting at home on their unpaid vacations. But Obummer and all the low life's in congress will still draw a pay check!
there also won't be anyone available to help in case you get into trouble. BTW all the non-liberal congresspeople will get paid too.....
Pretty sure regardless of affiliations they're all getting paid, because I don't remember any of them volunteering to give it back. But nice try......
At a feeble attempt to make it sound as one side is better than the other. Everyone knows both sides suck and blow. As messed up as it is, it's illegal for them not to be compensated, but career politicians were never thought of back then. But nothing says they can't be compensated in the amount of $1. Hell **** runs better when D.C. is on vacation and the bafoons are on planes back home.
I don't think that is accurate as most national forests are open access 24/7. I can see where national parks are a no go, but you can't hunt there anyway
BLM shut down plan: http://www.doi.gov/shutdown/fy2014/upload/BLM-Contingency-Plan.pdf Note that law enforcement will still be active. National Parks will be closed. Vistors will be told to leave. (like Trevor said, no hunting there anyhow, but it would suck if you're already on vacation at one) You should still be able to get into national forests just fine but I can't find any official 'plan' about them. I wouldn't expect any of the services to be available.
Haha, you mean as opposed to the countless attempts to make the President seem like the bad guy?? Nice try....but if you only read that last word......
Real bad for waterfowl hunters and some deer hunters. Government Shutdown Restricts Hunting on National Wildlife Refuges, But Other Federal Lands Remain Open | Outdoor Life
I posted a thread about this, but I figured I throw it in here as well to save somebody a trip. I feel for the guys who's tree blinds are stuck inside.
I work at a federal hatchery and most places are allocated at least one "essential" employee. That is a person who does the minimal working required to keep a hatchery or refuge going. For us, the manager comes in each morning for about an hour to feed the fish and take temperatures. I'm guessing most, if not all, federal law enforcement officers are listed as essential. So there will be guys looking to keep people out of these areas.
