Do you ever worry about posting pictures of your new toys(guns, bows, 4 wheelers) or posting that you are on vacation or a hunting trip? After all a lot of us have our hometowns and hunting locations listed and how hard would it be for someone to find where we live and make our toys their toys. I'm sure it does happen.
I really don't post much at all on my personal page, just the resorts. In the off season we never mention that we are away from the resort. Actually, the only post I've made on my personal page since last June was this: "Congratulations to you all!! If you are seeing this, you made the cut in the latest episode of Survivor: Mike's FB Friends. Now, some of you were pretty lucky, and really should step it up if you'd like to make any future thinnings..... But for now, you're all in the top 70%"
Everything I own is insured. If someone wants to assist me in getting newer replacements, be my guest. In fact, I have a secret hope that one day someone will drive off with my mowing trailer, equipment and all. It'd make getting newer gear a heck of a lot easier.
My profile is only viewable to my friends. And I'm not friends with anyone that I do not trust. Problem solved.
Anybody who pays enough attention to my FB page to know what stuff I have and where I live, probably has also figured out that I'm too scary to mess with. Even if I'm not home, I can't guarantee that one of my neighbors wouldn't shoot the wannabe thief. We're a bunch of bitter folks clinging to our guns and religion around here. Even our postmaster has come out the range and shot with us. Of course we have a dog and nearly 100 trained assassin chickens.
Every one knows that i work out of town 4 days a week and that my wife isnt afraid to unleash the 40 s&w on what ever idiot decides to come close to my garage. Its insured anways but ill make full use of the castle law first.
While we're on facebook.... which I really don't use. I stop in once a week or so. Anyway, lately I'm getting these damn "Photos of the DAy" posted on my page. What in the hell is that all about. Is there someway to stop it. It's part of something called "Between you and Me" or something like that. I never ask for it. I'm about to just close my account and go play by myself in the bathroom.
I'm a rarity, I don't have an account. I'm in the tech field, so I am cautious about everything I post online. Mike Sent from my iPhone
we must be related! i was going to say the exact same thing!.....except we only have 30 attack chickens and 2 turkeys.
as far as pics are concerned on FB.....anyone of your Friends can tag a picture of yours and post it on their page for all their friends (who you probably don't know) too see
There for a while I was worried but now one of my kids is usually here when we leave due to them being older and working or in college so they will not be able to go with us. IF they all go then yes I do not post until I get back.
no they can't there is a setting that allows you to approve any post that someone might make on your wall, any picture that someone tags of you, etc.
I have mine set to friends only as well. You still need to watch it though. I know Facebook on multiple occasions has changed my setting to everyone. Mainly happens when they change the layout. It resets your setting sometimes. Right know living in a huge apartment complex on the 3rd floor I don't really worry about people breaking in and stealing stuff. I'm good with all my neighbors and my parents are usually here everyday when we go on vacation to feed the cats and just check on stuff in general. When I finally get a house I'll probably refrain from posting a lot of stuff. Really the only reason I keep facebook anyway is just to keep in touch with friends that live out of state or in other countries.
