My brother & I are having a conversation about young fawns & poults and making sure we have enough cover for them on our farm when a question popped into my head...

..do young fawns have / emit any scent ? ..it's something we both recall hearing from some long forgotten conversation(s).. so I thought I'd ask here

I believe that is why the moms lick them clean to get that afterbirth smell gone quickly because it is a dinner bell. I have read a few sources that put that out. Not saying they do not have a smell, maybe just a deer smell. Just what I have read so don’t hold me to it.

As far as turkey, no idea.

Of course they do. This is how the mama identifies them. They also start peeing on their tarsal glands right away.
