Fawn in distress

Any one use a fawn in distress call.I heard a hunter using one very loud and aggressive calling. First I thought something is killing a cat. When it repeats 20 minutes later I realized it was a fawn in distress predator call.Then I see a six pt March by?? The hunter must have been busted as the buck came back 5 minutes later.

 

I've never used one but I hear it is more for attracting does.

I have used on occasion without success.

 

We were set up on a coyote hunt one evening using it and called in a large doe and we could not get rid of her..
